Thank you for your interest in becoming our new Principal and for taking the time to find out more about this exciting opportunity. We are seeking a successful educational leader who is ready for a new challenge – leading Scarborough UTC in the next stage of its development.

Scarborough University Technical College, with specialisms in engineering and computer science, opened in September 2016 and is part of a prestigious £47 million development which boasts the UTC, a new university campus and sports village. Our own state-of-the-art facilities provide an outstanding environment for learning and preparing for a career in the second quarter of the 21st century. The UTC is a school for 14-18 year olds with world class sponsors such as GCHQ, Plaxton, Unison Group, McCain, Deep Sea Electronics and the University of Hull. We give students the opportunity to gain practical experience in engineering and computer science whilst studying for Technical Qualifications, GCSEs and A-Levels. The UTC offers a unique and distinctive education offer, delivering a challenging and imaginative curriculum, blending technical and academic routes to success with project-based learning and real work experience delivered by our strong employer partners.

As Principal, you will build on the positive reputation of the UTC and lead the provision forward through its next phase of development, securing the very best educational outcomes and employer experiences for all students, providing them with clear progression routes for their careers and future development.

You will be a creative and innovative leader, sharing our passion for the future of the UTC and young people’s lives and future opportunities in the town of Scarborough. You’ll also be a passionate and committed leader with the ability to inspire staff, students, parents, employers and our wider community.

You will be a visible approachable leader, able to form strong working relationships with employers to ensure our young people have access to the best learning and opportunities. This is a career-defining opportunity for a current leader to provide innovative provision, working alongside employers and academic partners, to meet the needs of all learners at the UTC.

So, if you have a proven track record in school leadership, a solid understanding of the ever-changing education landscape, the ability to build and sustain effective business, employer, and community partnerships, the ability to lead, manage, motivate, and inspire staff, students, and the wider community we’d like to hear from you.

If you have any questions about the role please do speak with our advising consultants at Navigate, Rachel Singer and Jo Fish, who would be delighted to have an informal (and confidential) conversation on 0113 287 8445.
